The Consumer Acceptance, Choice and Attitudes toward genetically modified (GM) food in Beijing

Abstract

Genetically Modified food has already become popular topic in the global. The attitude of Consumers has been researched more than 10 years by many countries such as America, Europe, British. This study explains Chinese consumers acceptance, purchase intention and attitudes towards genetically modified food through trustworthy data. According to the results of this study indicated that consumers’ acceptance, choice and attitude toward genetically modified base on some factors which are perceived risk, traditional culture, government policy, consumer income and education level. Hence, GM food is not only involved technique problems, but also involve ethical problems. Many low-income families have to choose cheaper Genetically Modified foods because of price factors. In short, for consumers, GM food in Beijing market should be identity, because consumers can decide what they eat and what food they need in the market for themselves.
