THE FACTORS INFLUENCING THE FAILURE OF NEW START-UPS IN THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY IN KENYA

The transportation industry in Kenya is considered to be among the most depended industry in the country. This is because of the country having a port. The demand of transportation exceeds the supply as not only do the locals depend on it but land locked countries are using the same port which is located in Mombasa city. With this reason, the port can considered as very busy with over 200 sails weekly with cargo expected to be transported to various locations.
This research is conducted on the factors that influence the failure of new start-ups in the transportation industry in Kenya. The factors which will be included are; competition, government policies, financial capabilities and reliability.
The findings on this research which were collected with the assistance of the SPSS software shows that there is a relationship between competition, government policies, financial capabilities and reliability with the failure of new start-ups in the transportation industry in Kenya. Improving on these factors may give new start-ups a chance to be among competitors in the industry.
Furthermore, this research offers recommendations and suggestions for future research on related areas and at the same time, the limitations of the research are elaborated as well.
