The objective of this study is to find whether there is any impact between the 5S concept (sort, set in order, shine, standardized and sustain) on the performance (productivity) of a manufacturing company in Malaysia. Quantitative method is used in this study. The questionnaire was distributed to an electronic manufacturing company in Malaysia. A total of 62 responses were received out of 100 sampling size. In order to identify whether the data set are reliable, pilot testing of the first 15 responses is conducted with Cronbach’s Alpha reliability test and Exploratory factor analysis using KMO and Bartlett’s test. The results showed that the coefficient are reliable and satisfactory to proceed. Preliminary test is conducted to ensure the adequacy and reliability of the whole 62 responses. Similarly, the result of preliminary test also showed that the whole data set is reliable and satisfactory. Pearson correlation analysis is used to identify the relationship between each individual variable of 5S on the productivity. The results showed that there is a positive relationship between 5S and productivity. Multiple linear regression is used as an analysis to identify whether productivity can be predicted by all of the 5S variables. The result of linear regression analysis showed that only sort and sustain made significant contribution towards the prediction of productivity whereas set in order, shine and standardize did not make any significant contribution towards the prediction of productivity. Furthermore, managerial recommendations are made based on the regression analysis as well as recommendations for future study.
