Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the factors that affect the rate of employee turnover in the private sector in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve this purpose, a questionnaire was used as a tool to collect raw data from private sector employees in Oman using non-probability sampling. The total number of responses collected using an online questionnaire of employees was 211.

Factor analysis is used to indicate the interrelationships of independent and dependent variables. The value of the KMO variables indicated 0.909 which are in the high category and the results show that there is a great relationship between the independent factors which are salaries, work environment and job security with the dependent factor which is the rate of employee turnover in Omani private sector companies. Multiple regression analysis and unidirectional ANOVA show that salaries, work environment and job security have a significant positive impact on the employee turnover rate in the Omani private sector. According to the multiple regression analysis, 88% of the impact on the employee turnover rate of employees in the Omani private sector can be explained by the salary, work environment, and job security in Oman. Moreover, some recommendations for future study are presented in this research.
