IMPACT OF BIG FIVE PERSONALITY ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP INTENTION IN CHINA: A FOCUS GROUP APPROACH

This research aims to examine whether the Big-5 model in China can be a predictor of entrepreneurship. In China, entrepreneurship is developing rapidly with an additional impetus in years. There are, however, just a few researchers researching the big-5 system in China, even less of it as predictors of entrepreneurship. As a result, in terms of the Big-5 model, the research goals are to investigate the personality traits that affect individuals on entrepreneurship.
Following from the result of the study, it was concluded that the Big-5 traits has an influence on individual’s career decision making in determining entrepreneurial intention in China is proved to be verified. What’s more, specific dominant personality
trait in Big 5 personality indeed influence individuals to become either traditional or E-business entrepreneur. However, based on the analysis, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Openness to experience and Neuroticism within Big-5 personality traits is proved to influence the individual to be a traditional business entrepreneur in China. The trait of Openness to experience of Big-5 influence individuals to be an E-business entrepreneur in China.
Lastly, the key findings are digested from basic, analytical and in-depth questions. Then, a total of 10 big-5 model similar and different characteristics were demonstrated one by one between two focus groups. Based on the findings and the entire research phase, the final conclusion and recommendation have been made in this study.
