THE RETENTION OF GENERATION Y TALENTS AT KALYANA MITRA ENTERPRISE IN INDONESIA

As today’s business has become fiercer, talented employees are difficult to acquire and retain. There are six research objectives in this study which are to determine whether great leader, employee recognition, working environment, career advancement, competency management, and teamwork influences talent retention of Generation Y talents at Kalyana Mitra Enterprise in Indonesia. The six factors for this study are great leader, employee recognition, working environment, career advancement, competency management, and teamwork. The geographic focus of the study is in Riau, Indonesia, and the unit analysis for this study is the talents of Generation Y who are working at Kalyana Mitra Enterprise in Riau, Indonesia. This research is a cross-sectional study using quantitative methods based on descriptive research. Questionnaires are distributed online to the respondents and there are 135 usable responses retrieved which have exceeded the required sample size of 96. Non-probability sampling is used in this study and the questionnaires have been adapted from the previous studies. Based on the findings, the results showed that all independent variables are not significant. The results indicated that great leader, employee recognition, working environment, career advancement, competency management, and teamwork are not able to serve as talent retention factors at Kalyana Mitra Enterprise in Indonesia. It is because the researcher only focuses on one (1) company. There is also high likelihood the Gen Y in Kalyana Mitra were referred by their friends or relatives who worked before.
