INFLUENCE OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION DIMENSIONS ON LABOR PRODUCTIVITY

Abstract

This study is performed to understand the relationship between communication dimensions and Labor Productivity in the manufacturing industry of Malaysia. The communication dimensions are Vertical Communication, Horizontal Communication and Organizational Communication. Vertical Communication occurs between the supervisor and the subordinate, whereas Horizontal Communication occurs between co-workers of same level. Organizational Communication is characterized as the communication that represents the overall communication network of the company.

A recent decline in the labor productivity percentage for the manufacturing industry in Malaysia, along with the lack of exploration of communication dimensions individual influence on labor productivity, are the key prompters for this study. The relationship of all three types of communication dimensions with labor productivity are explored and recommendations are given accordingly.

The data is collected from 228 respondents via an online questionnaire; the data is analyzed with the help of SPSS software. The analysis of the data therefore present the key findings and recommendations for this study.
