FACTORS AFFECTING SMEs RELUCTANCE TO PRACTICE CSR

Abstract

In the global business context, corporate social responsibility has become a term that is widely discussed. “Corporate social responsibility” is no longer unfamiliar words to the businesses nowadays. There is high SMEs GDP growth with 7.2% which is much more compared to Malaysia GDP 5.9% (registered) in 2017. Engagement of corporate social responsibility in Malaysia is more focusing on the big corporation and multinational company. CSR models has evolved over the years to extent of it become part of businesses strategic plan. Four independent variables have been identified in this research and analyzed through one-way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation. Finding shows that out of four, three independent variables are recognized as having positive relation with the factor affecting SMEs reluctance to practice CSR. The accepted three variables are organization fund capability, knowledge and herd mentality.
