VOLUNTARY TURNOVER AMONG MILLENNIALS IN THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES INDUSTRY OF KUALA LUMPUR

Abstract

The professional services industry ranked fourth among other industries to have the highest turnover rate, at 11.4% (Booz, 2018). This research aims to research on the voluntary turnover among millennials in the professional services industry of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Employee turnover has been a concerning issue for all employers. This could be due to various reasons, which could be due to the high demand and expectation from the clients. Unfortunately, many professional services firms are facing lacked skilled professionals.

Therefore, the main objective of this research is to determine whether there is a relationship between working culture, career development, work-life integration, stress, and voluntary turnover among millennials in the professional services industry of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A total of 100 samples were drawn from millennials working or had worked in the professional services industry, who reside in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This research showed that career development showed little significance with voluntary turnover. Work-life integration showed a moderate relationship with voluntary turnover, while stress has a strong correlation with voluntary turnover. On the other hand, working culture has no significance on voluntary turnover among the millennials in the professional services industry of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
