Abstract

In today’s global economic landscape, the increasing demand for talent, together with the growing inclination for talents to change organizations has made talent retention a growing concern. Therefore, many organizations are exploring how they are able to retain talents for a longer period of time. The research objectives were to examine whether reward management, career progression, work-life balance and job satisfaction have a significant influence on talent retention among Gen Y government pharmacists in Malaysia. A descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional correlation study that focuses on establishing the relationship between reward management, career progression, work life balance and job satisfaction on talent retention among Gen Y government pharmacists in Malaysia will be carried out for this study. This study will be conducted in a non-contrived study setting, whereby research is conducted in the natural environment. Non-probability, convenience sampling will be applied in this study. A questionnaire was designed for this research, which was adapted from previous studies. This research distributed 500 questionnaires, and the response rate was 69.6% (348 respondents). The Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software was used for data analysis. The results of this study found that career progression and job satisfaction had a significant influence on talent retention among Gen Y government pharmacists in Malaysia (p-value of 0.026 and 0.000 respectively), while the factors reward management and work life balance did not have any significant influence. Recommendations for future research were presented.
